COMMITTEES
MMA Jamaica is supported by a structured system of committees and commissions that contribute to the effective governance, integrity, and development of the sport. These bodies are composed of experienced professionals from within mixed martial arts and related fields, bringing diverse expertise to support transparent decision-making and athlete-focused policies.
Committee members serve in a voluntary capacity and are committed to upholding the highest standards of fairness, safety, and good governance in Jamaican MMA.
Elected COMMITTEES
The following committees are elected through MMA Jamaica’s official governance processes and operate independently within their defined areas of responsibility.
The Anti-Doping Committee oversees the development and implementation of MMA Jamaica’s anti-doping policies across all sanctioned competitions. Its primary role is to ensure compliance with internationally recognized anti-doping standards and to protect clean athletes.
The committee includes qualified medical and anti-doping professionals who are responsible for:
Monitoring anti-doping programs and testing procedures
Ensuring education and awareness among athletes and coaches
Reviewing applications for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs) where medically justified
The Anti-Doping Disciplinary Committee is responsible for managing and resolving any alleged anti-doping rule violations. This includes cases arising from testing results, investigations, or procedural disputes connected to anti-doping enforcement.
The committee operates under established disciplinary procedures to ensure:
Fair hearings
Due process for athletes
Consistent and impartial decision-making
The Arbitration Committee functions as an independent body responsible for resolving appeals, complaints, and disputes related to disciplinary decisions.
This committee provides a neutral and impartial forum for:
Appeals against disciplinary rulings
Disputes related to anti-doping disciplinary outcomes
Governance-related complaints requiring independent review
The Disciplinary Committee manages and resolves alleged breaches of MMA Jamaica’s Code of Ethics, competition rules, and organizational policies—excluding anti-doping violations, which are handled separately.
Its responsibilities include:
Reviewing complaints and reported misconduct
Conducting disciplinary proceedings
Issuing sanctions where appropriate
Appeals against decisions of the Disciplinary Committee are referred to the Arbitration Committee to ensure independence and fairness.
The Financial Audit Committee operates independently to provide oversight of MMA Jamaica’s financial management and reporting.
Its role includes:
Reviewing financial records and procedures
Ensuring transparency and accountability
Supporting sound financial governance across the organization
The Nominations Committee ensures that all candidates for elected positions within MMA Jamaica meet eligibility requirements as outlined in the organization’s constitution and regulations.
The committee also oversees election procedures to confirm that:
Processes are fair and transparent
Elections comply with constitutional guidelines
Governance standards are upheld
