MMA Jamaica is the national governing body responsible for the regulation, development, and promotion of amateur mixed martial arts in Jamaica. The organization exists to provide structure, legitimacy, and opportunity for athletes, coaches, officials, and clubs involved in the sport across the island.

Operating in alignment with internationally recognized amateur MMA standards, MMA Jamaica is committed to ensuring that the sport is practiced safely, fairly, and professionally. Through sanctioned competitions, standardized rules, and education-based development programs, MMA Jamaica supports the growth of MMA from grassroots participation to elite amateur competition.

Organization

MMA Jamaica operates as a non-profit, member-based organization dedicated to the transparent, democratic, and athlete-centered governance of mixed martial arts in Jamaica. The organization is structured to ensure accountability, fairness, and effective decision-making at all levels of the sport.

The governance framework of MMA Jamaica is designed to support safe competition, long-term athlete development, and alignment with internationally recognized amateur MMA standards.

 

General Assembly

The General Assembly is the supreme decision-making body of MMA Jamaica. It is composed of delegates representing the organization’s registered and recognized member clubs and affiliates.

The General Assembly:

  • Convenes at least once per year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
  • Sets the strategic direction of the organization
  • Approves major policies, regulations, and constitutional matters
  • Elects the President and other designated governing positions
  • Appoints or ratifies key oversight committees where required

The General Assembly ensures that MMA Jamaica remains democratic, transparent, and accountable to its membership.

 

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the executive governing body responsible for overseeing the management and strategic implementation of MMA Jamaica’s objectives.

Led by the President, the Board:

  • Provides leadership and governance oversight
  • Implements policies approved by the General Assembly
  • Oversees committees, commissions, and administration
  • Ensures compliance with national and international standards

Board members serve in a voluntary capacity and are committed to the ethical development of the sport.

 

Administration

The Administration of MMA Jamaica is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization.

Under the supervision of the President and the Board of Directors, the administration:

  • Implements decisions of the General Assembly and Board
  • Manages communications, registrations, and records
  • Supports events, competitions, and development programs
  • Coordinates with committees, officials, and member clubs

This structure ensures efficient operation while maintaining strong governance oversight.

 

Committees and Commissions

MMA Jamaica is supported by a range of specialist committees and commissions that provide expertise, oversight, and guidance across key areas of the sport.

These may include committees responsible for:
