REFEREE & JUDGES LICENSING

MMA Jamaica supports the development of qualified referees and judges to ensure fair, safe, and consistent officiating across all sanctioned MMA competitions.

Officials seeking to referee or judge at sanctioned events must complete an approved Referee & Judges Certification Course and demonstrate the required level of competency and practical experience.

Certification ensures that referees and judges:

  • Understand current competition rules and scoring criteria
  • Apply safety protocols consistently
  • Officiate matches with professionalism and impartiality

Only certified officials are eligible to officiate at MMA Jamaica–sanctioned competitions and to be considered for international assignments where applicable.

Cutman Licensing

MMA Jamaica recognizes the importance of qualified Cutmen in protecting athlete health and ensuring safe competition. The Cutman Licensing Pathway follows a three-level progression system designed to develop knowledge, experience, and professionalism at national and international levels.

Licensing is awarded following approved certification courses and verified practical experience.

Professional Standards & Development

All licensed Cutmen are expected to:

  • Prioritize athlete safety at all times
  • Follow approved wound-care practices
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct

To retain an active license, Cutmen must complete a minimum of 10 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) annually, which may include first aid training, wound care education, or evidence-based research.
